JUNE 20: SKYWATCH, hosted by Ann Triggs. We would like to invite anyone in the MoMufon or MissouriSkywatchers yahoo groups or any Missouri/Kansas MUFON members to come out to our place on Saturday evening, June 20 for a Skywatch & Wienie Roast Potluck. We are located about halfway between Lee's Summit, MO and Warrensburg, MO just 1/4 mile south of 50 highway. To all who RSVP that they plan to come, I will give more detailed directions later. We'll start cooking hot dogs over the fire around 6:30, so show up anytime between then and dark thirty. The "official" skywatch will be over around midnight, but if anyone would like to camp out on our property for the night and drive home in daylight, feel free to bring your tent or RV. We're not a campground though, so it will be primitive style camping. We can hook people up to electricity if you bring the proper cords and we don't run out of outlets or juice. First come, first served on that. We have Father's Day plans with the family on Sunday, so we'll have to shoo you out of here fairly early on Sunday morning.
So, bring some kind of food to go along with hot dogs, your binoculars, cameras, night vision equipment, bug spray, lawn chairs, UFO signal lights, telescopes, star maps, flashlights, etc. Bring anything except children or large pets. PLEASE NO KIDS under the age of 14. If you bring a small pet, it must be on a leash. Dogs have been skunked out here before and its not pleasant for the rest of us......or the dog.
I would appreciate getting an RSVP from you to let me know how many to expect. If its rainy that night, we may postpone it to a later date, so check your email before you head out here if there is a chance of rain.
Hope a lot of you can come. It will be nice to see the faces of all the folks who post such interesting items online. And maybe we will SEE something overhead, too!!! We can see a lot of sky & stars out here in the country. Its not completely free of light pollution, but better than in the city.
